After remaining stuck in release limbo for years, Pooja Meri Jaan has finally found a streaming platform. Directed by Navjot Gulati and produced under Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the film has been announced as part of ZEE5’s upcoming Hindi content slate, potentially bringing an end to a long and frustrating wait for its cast and creative team.
The film, which explores themes of stalking and cybercrime, features Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.
Pooja Meri Jaan Was Originally Planned For JioCinema
Pooja Meri Jaan was initially planned as a direct-to-digital release on JioCinema. However, its release reportedly became uncertain following the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar.
Despite completing its shoot and post-production by the end of 2022, the film remained unreleased for an extended period.
The prolonged uncertainty reportedly caused frustration among those associated with the project, with director Navjot Gulati eventually speaking publicly about how the delay had affected him both personally and professionally.
Navjot Gulati Had Opened Up About The Film’s Long Delay
Earlier this year, Gulati spoke about the emotional toll of waiting for his completed film to reach audiences.
The filmmaker revealed that his father, who passed away in 2024, spent the final months of his life repeatedly asking when the film would finally be released.
Gulati also alleged that co-producer Amar Kaushik stopped responding to his calls and messages after October 2025. According to the director, a disagreement over the film’s valuation was among the reasons it remained stuck, claiming that Maddock Films was unwilling to sell the project below its expected price.
He also questioned why the possibility of releasing the film theatrically was not explored and even expressed his willingness to buy the film back if the producers did not intend to move forward with its release.
Director Claims Delay Affected His Career
According to Gulati, the situation also created professional difficulties for him.
With his completed directorial project remaining unreleased for years, he claimed that other producers became hesitant to collaborate with him, putting his career in an unusual position where his debut film was finished but audiences had no opportunity to see his work.
The film’s inclusion in ZEE5’s new slate now offers renewed hope that Pooja Meri Jaan will finally reach viewers, although an exact streaming premiere date is yet to be announced.
ZEE5 Announces Extensive New Hindi Content Slate
Alongside Pooja Meri Jaan, ZEE5 has announced several upcoming films and series.
The platform’s series lineup includes Kambli, inspired by the life of former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, along with The Scam: Leaked, Coffee King, and Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0, hosted by R. Madhavan. The classic Zee Horror Show is also set to return, while franchises including Rangbaaz, Janaawar, and Bakaiti will receive new seasons.
On the film front, the slate includes Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mouni Roy, Bandar with Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Vaani Kapoor’s Sarvgunn Sampann, along with Ghamasaan, Ikroop, and Dalimb.
For Pooja Meri Jaan, however, the announcement carries particular significance. After spending years as a completed film without a confirmed release, the project finally appears to be moving closer to audiences.
