Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s upcoming action thriller Alpha has been generating massive buzz ever since it was announced as part of the YRF Spy Universe. The film is particularly significant because it marks the first female-led instalment in the blockbuster spy franchise created by Yash Raj Films.
The movie was originally slated for release in December last year. However, the makers later moved the release to April 17, 2026, reportedly to give the film’s visual effects team more time to perfect the large-scale action sequences. Now, the studio has pushed the film once again, officially confirming a new theatrical release date of July 10, 2026.
Yash Raj Films announced the update on Monday by sharing a new poster of Alpha on Instagram. The poster offers a brief but striking look at Alia Bhatt’s character. She appears bruised and injured, with visible cuts on her face and arm, hinting at the intense action and high-stakes missions the film will feature.
The poster also confirms the main cast of the film, including Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, along with the line “10.07.26. Only in cinemas.”

The announcement also puts an end to recent rumors suggesting that Alpha might skip theaters and premiere directly on OTT. Yash Raj Films had previously denied those reports and reiterated that the film is designed specifically for the big screen.
A spokesperson from the studio told Variety India that the OTT speculation was misleading and unfair to a film led by female protagonists. According to the spokesperson, YRF is committed to delivering large cinematic spectacles, and Alpha is being positioned as a major theatrical event.
Fans quickly reacted to the poster on social media, flooding the comments with excitement. Many wrote messages such as “We are ready for the Alpha girls,” “Take my money already,” and “Can’t wait to watch this in theatres.”
The film is directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously worked on projects like The Railway Men, Fan and Dhoom. 3. A significant portion of the movie has reportedly been shot in Kashmir, which is expected to provide a stunning backdrop for the film’s action-packed narrative.
Bobby Deol will play the main antagonist, and several reports suggest that his character could share a personal history with Alia Bhatt’s spy. Some speculation even hints that he might initially train her before eventually becoming her most dangerous enemy.
Interestingly, audiences already got a small tease of the story in a post-credit scene from War 2. In that scene, Bobby Deol’s character is seen stamping the logo of a mysterious agency on a young girl’s hand. When she asks about it, he explains that the program is called “Alpha,” referring to the first letter of the Greek alphabet and the organization’s motto: “The first, the fastest, the strongest.”
The moment sparked numerous fan theories online, with many viewers speculating that the young girl could be a younger version of Alia Bhatt’s character.
Box Office Scenario: Which Films Release Before Alpha?
While Alpha is scheduled to arrive in theatres on July 10, 2026, the box office will already have some competition around that period.
One of the major releases arriving just a week earlier is Dhamaal 4, which is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on July 3, 2026. The comedy franchise, led by Ajay Devgn, is expected to attract family audiences and fans of the popular Dhamal series.

Since the film releases only a week before Alpha, it could still be performing strongly in theaters when Alia Bhatt’s spy thriller arrives. However, the genres are completely different.
While Dhamaal 4 is a light-hearted comedy entertainer, Alpha is a high-budget action thriller set within the YRF Spy Universe. Because of this difference, the two films may appeal to different sections of the audience.
On the international front, Alpha could also face competition from major Hollywood releases around the same time, including Disney’s live-action Moana, which is expected to be released globally on the same day.

Will Alpha Get a Solo Release in Bollywood?
As of now, Alpha does not appear to have a direct Bollywood clash on July 10. This could allow the film to enjoy a strong opening weekend at the box office without facing immediate competition from another major Hindi release.
However, its real challenge will depend on how strongly Dhamaal 4 performs in its second week and how Hollywood releases fare in multiplexes.
For Yash Raj Films, Alpha is clearly a major theatrical bet. With Alia Bhatt and Sharvari leading the action and Bobby Deol playing the villain, the studio is positioning the film as a big-screen spectacle that expands the ever-growing YRF Spy Universe.
