After weeks of speculation surrounding its digital premiere, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has finally locked its OTT release strategy. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, the blockbuster spy thriller is taking an unusual route by arriving on different streaming platforms for international and Indian audiences.
The film is also making headlines because reports suggest OTT viewers will get access to a longer and more intense version compared to its theatrical release.
Dhurandhar 2 Adopts Split OTT Release Strategy
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is expected to begin streaming internationally on Netflix between May 14 and May 15 depending on viewers’ time zones.
However, Indian audiences will not receive the film on Netflix.
Instead, the movie will stream exclusively in India through JioHotstar, ending several days of speculation surrounding its digital release platform.
The move has surprised many viewers because the first Dhurandhar film reportedly streamed on Netflix, leading fans to expect a similar release pattern for the sequel.

Netflix To Release ‘Raw & Unseen’ Version
One of the biggest talking points surrounding the OTT release is the alternate version reportedly planned for international viewers.
According to reports, Netflix will stream the film under the title Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Raw & Undekha), also being referred to as Raw & Unseen.
The branding suggests a more intense version of the film with uncensored content and additional footage not included in theatres.
Reports indicate the digital cut will run for approximately 3 hours and 52 minutes.
The theatrical version reportedly had a runtime of around 3 hours and 49 minutes, making the OTT edition slightly longer.
The updated version is expected to restore scenes, dialogues, and moments that may have been trimmed before theatrical certification.

JioHotstar Secures Major Rights Deal
Reports suggest JioHotstar acquired the film’s Indian digital rights in a deal valued at nearly Rs 150 crore.
Industry observers are describing the agreement as one of the largest OTT acquisitions for an Indian film in recent times.
Indian viewers are also expected to receive the extended cut of the film once it becomes available on the platform.
The separate branding and platform strategy for domestic and overseas audiences remains relatively uncommon for major Indian theatrical releases.
Longer Streaming Versions Becoming New Trend
Dhurandhar 2 appears to be following a growing pattern in Indian cinema where filmmakers are using OTT platforms to present longer or uncensored versions after a theatrical run.
Several filmmakers have recently explored extended editions to provide additional scenes, character moments, and a more complete narrative experience for viewers at home.
With a runtime approaching four hours and a specially branded international edition, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now emerging as one of the biggest examples of this changing OTT strategy.
The unusual release format has only increased audience curiosity around what exactly will be different in the streaming version.
